CIM is a team of experts who are passionate about making buildings better for owners, tenants and society.
Our vision
Our vision is to be the world leader in building analytics software, making it easy to operate large buildings at their peak operational performance, to deliver economic and environmental benefits for shareholders, tenants and society.
Why is this important?
Shopping centres, commercial offices, airports and other large buildings play a vital role in the community, involve thousands of stakeholders and have high daily foot traffic. They are also complex to operate. Managing the equipment that maintains temperature, air quality, ventilation and overall comfort is challenging, and when things go wrong, those responsible can suffer large penalties.
What we do
CIM transforms building operations by combining building analytics, machine learning and technical engineering support into real-time, data-driven insights. We empower owners and operators to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of their portfolio to improve asset value, tenant comfort and sustainability. Our customers include large Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), super funds, government, cultural institutions and major property portfolio owners and operators.
Our leadership
David Walsh, Founder & CEO
David was inspired to create CIM because of the ’black hole’ he observed in the way data was being used within buildings. Companies were data-rich but information poor, and there was no focus on finding or fixing the root cause of wastage. Prior to moving to Australia, David worked in Ireland and Germany as a systems engineer and consultant for SAP and Intel, and as a director of technical services for a design, building and property company. He has a bachelor of computer science from Griffith University in Dublin.
Anton Mazkovoi, CTO
Anton is passionate about building world-class software engineering teams and making globally renowned products. He was Atlassian’s first full-time employee in 2003 and helped create its flagship JIRA team collaboration platform. Throughout his career building SaaS, mobile and on-premises products, Anton has played a role in helping young companies such as Atlassian, SafetyCulture and IRESS and now CIM to grow and shape a business that contributes to improving the environment. As Chief Technology Officer, Anton is responsible for the creation and development of CIM’s award-winning PEAK platform.
Howie Mann, VP of Operations
Howie was drawn to helping CIM solve the big challenge of energy efficiency and automation across the global built environment. As the VP of Operations, Howie is responsible for client engagement and the operation of CIM’s expert engineering team and he enjoys bringing together expert mechanical engineering talent and bleeding-edge IoT and ML technology. Previously, Howie led Customer Acquisition and Onboarding at B2B SaaS company SafetyCulture and prior to that, he had a 7-year career in investment banking at Macquarie Bank and Commonwealth, specialising in equity capital markets and advising technology companies.
Paul Walsh, General Manager EMEA
Leading CIM’s European expansion, Paul joined CIM with a passion for combating climate change and how disruptive technology has the ability to remove barriers to delivering demand-side energy savings for large property owners in a very short time frame. Prior to joining CIM, Paul led the Johnson & Johnson Ireland Energy Team, delivering over 15,000MT of CO2 reduction programs and also working on several sustainability initiatives. With 20 years of industry experience in delivering energy savings, Paul is a Certified Energy Manager with a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Manufacturing Technology and an MBA from the University of Limerick.
Colin Cullinan, Platform Lead
Founding team member
One of CIM’s founding team members, Colin has an extensive career as a software infrastructure designer and architect and joined CIM to help create CIM’s V1 PEAK platform. He gets huge satisfaction from seeing a design go from a concept to a full product release and loves creating value and making life easier for CIM’s customers by reducing their costs and improving efficiencies.
Antonious Mickaeal, Head of Engineering
Founding team member
Antonious joined CIM in 2014 as a founding team member to become part of a disruptive company that is making the world a better, cleaner and more efficient place. After six years as a controls engineer, he saw the opportunity with CIM to optimise buildings using the already-existing data coming from building systems. As CIM’s Head of Engineering, Antonious ensures that our team of expert mechanical, mechatronic and electrical engineers support our clients to deliver the best results from the PEAK platform. Antonious has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical & Mechatronics) Diploma in Engineering Practise from the University of Technology Sydney.
