As a Project engineer, my role varies on a daily basis. Some of the areas I work on include onboarding new clients, creating custom analysis, working with the engineering team to create dashboards, and I reach out to clients on a regular basis to ensure that issues are continually progressing to being closed.
Why did you join CIM and what do you enjoy about the proptech industry?
I have always been keen on reducing my carbon footprint and ever since university I have wanted a career in this industry. When I saw the impact CIM has on the environment through building analytics I was immediately interested.
Through the interview process with CIM’s Head of Operations and Customer success, Cillian Casey I was able to see the hardworking nature of a SaaS startup. I could see that my role would be diverse and I would be exposed to many areas of the business.
I knew that this would be a great opportunity to grow with a company that has an exciting product with huge potential and I wanted to be a part of the journey.
What are the main challenges you see building owners and operators face?
Often there is a disconnect between building owners and operators. While building owners want to reduce the costs of daily operations. Operators find it challenging to continually deliver cost-saving projects.
How has lockdown and social distancing impacted your clients and how have you been able to support them through this period?
Lockdown has greatly reduced energy consumption and in turn the cost of utilities used by our clients. Through the PEAK platform, we have continued to highlight issues for our clients and they have been able to close them at a faster pace as their facilities have a much lower occupancy.
I have been taking a course on “Safe operations of buildings during COVID-19” through this we have been able to provide valuable information to our customers to improve safety during these times.
In your experience, what surprises CIM customers the most when they start using PEAK?
One of the things customers are most surprised about is how much analysis we carry out. The depth at which PEAK is able to identify issues truly surprises customers.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of this role is that I am involved in many parts of the business. I engage with clients, build relationships, and I am also involved in the technical setup.
What trends do you see emerging in the built environment?
With the rise in remote working and reduction in people living in cities, I see a rise in a new working environment with a focus on occupant & employee wellbeing and a reduction in a traditional workspace.
When you are not working, what is one thing you love to do?
I love to travel. Just before joining CIM, I had just come back from a two month trip to Central America. When I’m not travelling I like to cook and stay fit with the gym.
What is something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I think my Irish accent hides it well but people are most surprised to learn that I was born in India and lived there for 12 years before moving to Kerry, Ireland.
When lockdown ends, where are you off to on your next holiday?
Anywhere really! I love Italian food and haven’t been to Italy yet so I think I’ll go there first.
